Deprivation

As I mentioned in an earlier post the theme of this week's Weight Watchers meeting was not depriving yourself.

Mainly urging people not to completely cut their fave foods out to lose weight, but to learn to manage cravings and treat yourself without going overboard.

That doesn't work for me.  I have no willpower. If I buy a box of the 100 calorie packs to eat for dessert I won't eat one a night.  I'll eat the entire box.

If I buy low calorie ice cream to have a small snack I'll eat the whole container.

I made peanut butter vegan cupcakes with chocolate frosting and ate all 12 in one weekend.  I through away the recipe.

The only way for me to not go overboard is to not have it in the house. I have to deprive myself or end up on a ledge with a box of hohos to my head.

But it works for me. I have my special treats that are on the diet that I can eat and when I go out for brunch once a week I'll splurge with a mimosa or something like that.  Something that is not in my house and therefore I can't go too far overboard with it.

How do you stay on track without depriving yourself your fave foods?

  1. I give myself one cheat meal a week. It seems to work for me as I am the same way. If it's in the house, I'm gonna eat it.
