Political Run

Long before I became moderately obsessed with running, I was obsessed with politics.

It started with Woodward and Bernstein, Camelot and Bill Clinton. I grew up in a Reaganite home to be a so-called "crazy liberal", one of my first celebrity crushes was I shit you not, George Stephanopolous.

So I was torn tonight on whether to get on the treadmill or listen to the State of the Union, as it turned out I timed intervals with a watch so I could hear the President's first state of the union.

Now I've come a long way since my uber-liberal days of high school and college. I am still strongly a liberal on many issues, but I'm not as black and white on them as I once was... so I have a lot to say when it comes to politics.

But this is not a blog about that, it's a blog about the fact that while running on the treadmill I took turns yelling my commentary about the speech to invisible ears, and checking my watch to see when I needed to up my speed, can you guess what happened next?

Yes dear readers, I fell off the fucking treadmill.

In between my yelling at Nancy Pelosi to stop standing up so much, I'm all about standing up for the President but damn she's got a spring in her chair... and timing my third interval my foot missed the track and boom.

Luckily there is a wall directly behind the treadmill so I didn't have far to fall really I just whacked the hell out of my back and regained my footing.

I guess I'm not as good at multi-tasking as I thought.

  1. But did you spring back up like Ms. Pelosi?
One thing about S of the U speeches that makes me crazy is all the momentum interruptions from the clapping. I want them to shut up and let the prez get on a roll!
