I'm ridiculously impatient. I want to spend half an hour on the treadmill and step off looking like Giselle Bundchen. It's part of why I tend to lose motivation in working out.
But I am pushing through and amping up my workouts... case in point I tweaked my couch to 5k training plan last night.
I went back to one of the earlier intervals, but since my main goal is to run a 5k in half an hour, so I did the C25K interval plan but when it came time to job I upped my speed to 6 miles per hours, which is about 2 miles faster than I'm currently running, I'm a slow fat ass.
I wanted to kill myself kill myself for the first few intervals, but by the end of 20 minutes I was keeping up the pace comfortably.
So tomorrow's run, I'll do the same thing and eventually I'll be a fast cute runner instead of a huffing-puffing fat ass runner.

Running Coach
Despite my near death experience yesterday attempting 20 minute intervals I decided to try it again today. The assumption being if I'd run 20 minutes already it'd be easier to do it again.
So I gathered up little Molly Moo and plopped her on the guest room bed with a chew toy while I hopped on the treadmill. Yesterday she attempted to climb under the treadmill while I was running so I'm trying to avoid skinning her.
Molly's on the bed and I turn the treadmill on and start my walking warm up and she is instantly mesmerized.
It's quite the opposite of Bella's frustration with me on the treadmill which I documented here:
Instead Molly watched me walk and then start running, her head cocked to the side curiously. Looking at my feet and then up to my face.
As I did yesterday I took a brief walking break to stretch my angry calves. I was off the treadmill probably about 30 seconds total. Molly would have none of it, as soon as my feet were off that motorized track she started barking her head off.
I told her to be quiet and started running again, noting her constant amazement at the treadmill.
So I tested her and hopped off again, just stepping onto the side panels of the treadmill and again the yapping began.
Apparently my 3 pound shih tzu is going to be my drill sergeant keeping my ass on the treadmill at all times.

Masochism
Apparently I am a masochist.
I see no other reason that after the pain of yesterday's run I did it again tonight. For some reason I felt like my body needed to prove to me that I am not fit and still need work.
Again, I finished the damn intervals... but my calves were not happy. I'm sure tomorrow I won't be able to walk, but at least I got in a good sweat.
Now I'm back to corralling the girls, they're getting along better, unless Molly looks at Bella wrong, then Bella reserves the right to try and kill Molly.
I bought the largest spray bottle I could find to keep both girls in check. Molly doesn't quite get why I'm spraying her, just keeps looking around for where the water came from.
Maybe I should throw them on the treadmill for punishment when they can't get along. I know that'd be a big deterrent to my bad behavior.

Week 5, Run 2
I'm roughly halfway finished with Couch to 5k. I'm still aiming for a mid May 5k, so I have a few weeks of running the 5k under my belt. I'm pretty pumped about it.
That being said... today kicked my ass. I know I seem to say that every week, but week 5 starts a split. Every three running days you do a different interval, today it was walk 5, run 8, walk 5, run 8... and man is 8 minutes a long time.
I'm thinking I'll probably run this same interval tomorrow, partly because my legs need it to keep from cramping up and partly because I'm scared of what day 3 may hold.
I will say I was pretty proud of how far into the 8 minutes I could run before my calf started cramping up and I had to pause to stretch. I can't imagine what would happen if the Kate circa Jan. 1 would have done trying to go that 8 minutes.
My run was peppered with moderating Bella and Molly. There was an attack yesterday (B tried to kill M for touching her bowl)... so we've been closely monitoring them.
I plopped them on the guest room bed and gave them each a chew toy:

They then would trade spots and chews throughout the half hour I was on the treadmill... ending up like this by the time I finished:

Now they're sacked out on opposite sides of the bed while I spread out my sore legs... while watching Figure Skating.
Did anyone else used to practice jumps in socks on hardwood floors in their house? Just me?
